They know...

They know...

It was a late night in October, rain drizzling down, the air cold and crisp. The leaves bore the color of the sun and crimson red. Around 11 p.m., there was a knock on his door. When the man opened it, he was met by a child – no older than twelve. Sneakers. Jeans. A gray hoodie beneath a black jacket. The hood was up, the boy looked down. The man looked curiously at him and said: "Hey kid. Can I help you?" The boy answered "Good evening, sir. May I come in? I would like to borrow your telephone, please."

Tristan and Linda

About Tristan and Linda

A couple of weeks passed. She called him on the phone, and with happiness in her voice she said “I’ve got a date on Friday! I met this guy when I bought a coffee downtown. He’s great looking, smooth, got a deep voice and I saw his bulge! And he’s got a really nice car! He challenges me, keeps me on my toes. I love it! His name is Kyle.” “Well, that sounds… nice, I guess." he replied, hiding his frustration. "Are you sure about this guy though?” “Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?” she asked. “Well, it’s just… he kind of reminds me of the other guys you’ve dated over the last few years.” “You don’t want me to be happy?”

You should stay

You should stay

“You should stay, you know.” He said while they stood on the platform as the train slowly came to a stop. “I don’t want you to go. It feels so empty every time you leave. I’m fine for like a day, but then… then I don’t feel good at all for several days. I miss you when you leave, and I think about you every day, and it hurts. It hurts that you’re not here with me.”

The date

The Autopsy of Salem Blake

I removed the intestines, the kidneys, and the liver. I had to cut a bit more to remove the bladder and the prostate. Had I not known better, I could’ve sworn that his fingers moved ever so slightly, but it was late, and it had been a long day.
